Westside Panthers recognises six senior perpetual award categories each season:
Senior Goalkeeper of the Year
Senior Defender of the Year
Senior Midfielder of the Year
Senior Attacker of the Year
Male Senior Player of the Year
Female Senior Player of the Year
How Senior Awards are Calculated
Senior awards are determined using the Club's 3–2–1 voting system. Following each eligible senior match, players are assessed and awarded:
3 points – best player
2 points – second-best player
1 point – third-best player
Votes accumulate throughout the season, with the final totals used to determine the senior perpetual awards.
The Male & Female Senior Player of the Year awards recognise the highest overall vote-getters across the eligible male and female senior competitions.
The position-based awards recognise the highest-ranked eligible player in each position.
Where a player qualifies for both a Senior Player of the Year award and a position-based award, the player will receive the Senior Player of the Year award, with the next highest eligible player receiving the relevant position award. This allows multiple players to be recognised while maintaining a consistent, merit-based process.
Ties
In the event of a tie, the player with the most 3-point votes will be ranked higher. If the players remain tied, the number of 2-point votes will be considered. If a tie still remains, the Senior Coaching team may consider additional performance and contribution information to determine the recipient.
Eligibility
Players must have participated in an eligible Westside Panthers senior team during the season.
A player's eligibility for a position-based award is based on the position in which they primarily participated during the season.
-
Life Membership is the highest honour awarded by Westside Panthers Football Club, recognising individuals whose contribution, commitment and service have made a lasting impact on the Club.
Life Members are recognised for exceptional service and contribution to Westside Panthers, including through leadership, volunteering, playing, coaching, administration, supporting teams and players, or helping to build the Club's culture and community.
Eligibility & Consideration
Length of involvement alone does not determine eligibility. The Committee will consider the overall significance, impact and sustained nature of a person's contribution to Westside Panthers.
Consideration may include:
Long-term commitment and service to the Club.
Leadership and contribution to the Club.
Significant volunteer service.
Support of players, teams and Club members.
Contribution to Club culture and community.
Service across multiple roles or areas of the Club.
Contribution that has gone beyond normal expectations.
The lasting impact the individual has had on Westside Panthers.
Nominations
Life Membership nominations are open to members of the Westside Panthers community.
Before submitting a nomination, we encourage you to review the Current Life Members to understand the level of contribution and service that has previously been recognised.
Nominations should provide specific examples of the nominee's contribution, commitment and impact. Consider their overall involvement with Westside Panthers, including leadership, volunteering, service to teams and players, contribution to Club culture and any contribution that has gone beyond the normal expectations of their role.
The information provided in the nomination will form the primary basis for the Committee's assessment, so detailed and specific examples are encouraged.
Nominations should be submitted through the Life Membership Nomination Form.
Committee Assessment
The Committee will assess each nomination against the nominee's overall contribution and the standard expected of a Life Member.
Any Committee member with an actual or perceived conflict of interest relating to a nomination must declare the conflict and will not participate in discussion or voting on that nomination.
Life Membership is awarded at the discretion of the Westside Panthers Committee and represents exceptional recognition of an individual's contribution and service to the Club.
-
For awards determined through nominations, the Westside Panthers Committee will review all eligible nominations against the published criteria for each award.
The Committee will consider:
The quality and detail of the nomination.
Specific examples of the nominee's contribution or achievement.
The nominee's impact on their team, the Club or wider community.
How closely the nominee meets the published award criteria.
The overall contribution and circumstances of the nominee.
The number of nominations received does not determine the outcome. A nominee does not need to receive the most nominations to win an award. Awards are determined on merit based on the information available to the Committee.
Where appropriate, the Committee may seek additional information or clarification to assist with its assessment.
Conflicts of Interest
Any Committee member with an actual or perceived conflict of interest relating to a nomination must declare the conflict.
A conflicted Committee member will not participate in the discussion or voting for that award category.
Voting
Where a decision is required, the Committee will determine the recipient by vote. The Committee may use discussion and assessment against the published criteria before voting takes place.
The Committee may consider the overall distribution of awards to ensure a broad range of contributors are recognised. This will not override the requirement for each award to be determined on merit against its published criteria.
Committee decisions regarding perpetual award recipients are final.
